Focus on the goal…

One of the things I battle with constantly is people who get distracted by the new hotness… “We’ve got to be AI enabled!” When told “no” they get their knickers in a knot. Roll forward 6 months and it’s proven that their hyperventilation was a waste of time. Seth Goldin said it best today:

The better strategy is to not sign up for trains that are likely to run away.

He’s talking about risk management, but it’s equally applicable to chasing the new hotness.

Focus on the goal – deliver a valuable product, ignore the froth.
