Every pirate wants to be an admiral. Though comcom rescued Apple from a monopolist’s sneaky attempt to drive it out of business, Apple – now a three trillion dollar company – has repeatedly attacked comcom when it was applied to Apple’s products. When Apple did comcom, that was progress. When someone does comcom to Apple, that’s piracy.
Surveillance capitalism (thanks Sheryl (she implemented the model at both Google and Facebook)) is the root of a bunch of evils in big tech. It’s a deeply user unfriendly business model that needs to end.
Harvard University assembled a team of prestigious experts and set them loose on the problem of Facebook cultivating and spreading disinformation. Then the Zuckerbergs gave Harvard University $500m. Then Harvard University shut the team down.
