Watching Meta choke on AI warms my little heart. The company has fracked our society for clicks and ad revenue. It has left a trail of destruction that I think we’re only starting to grok (I’ve got an even bet that Facebook has been a contributor to the drop in birth rates since… drumroll… 2007). Now Zuck is turning those malicious tools on his own staff.

I have zero sympathy for Meta staff. They have been some of the most insufferable groups of people in tech for the last 20 years. They talk high minded BS like:
But they have delivered nothing but ever increasing shit.
It seems like the old mantra of “move fast and break things” has now extended to Meta’s engineering org itself, with the company’s rush to over-invest in AI, so it will avoid missing the latest mega-trend in the tech industry.

He then added that morale is “probably one of the worst it’s ever been.”
It breaks my heart that a generation of our best and brightest have been locked up in gilded cages just to optimize ad revenue.
